Autodesk 3ds Max services and support have a great crash course available for free downloads on its website. It is divided into 4 separate modules for people seeking a basic introduction to animation and modelling for the web.
A step by step approach is taken to explain basic concepts, theory and practice, animation, modelling, rendering and texturing. ( MART )
The narration and the demos are easy to follow along and reproduce. The scene files used by the instructor are also part of the module.
Very good stuff to start learning how to build simple models using a variety of techniques and then animate models at a basic level to extract character and emotions from animated objects. They also teach in the demo, how to creatively use materials and light to embellish the scene. Great demo for those freelance animators who are new to 3ds Max design and practice as well as for instructors in media / multimedia training institutes.
